Opening a bank account

A)Foreigners can open a bank account in Spain but it involves some paperwork. One advantage of opening an account is the wide net of Kutxa offices and ATM machines that you will find all over Gipuzkoa.

B)You can withdraw a maximum of 300 euros a day from a Kutxa ATM machines with no commission.

C)Another advantage of opening an account in Kutxa is that you can receive a bank transfer from your family. These transfers include two different commissions: one from the bank in your country and the other one from Kutxa when it comes to cash the money for you. Kutxa commission for transfers are 3 € for every 1000 € with a minimum of 9 €, unless your bank at home decides to pay all the commissions.

D)What to do in order to open a bank account (CUENTA JOVEN or GAZTEDI):

In order to be able to open a bank acount in Spain you just will need a “STUDY CERTIFICATE” that you can get at the USAC office, and a “RESOLUCIÓN DE AUTORIZACIÓN DE ESTANCIA POR ESTUDIOS” that you will need to get at the “OFICINA DE EXTRANJEROS”.

 

HOW TO GET THIS DOCUMENTS:

  1. Ask us for a Study Certificate
  2. You need to go to the “Oficina de Extranjeros” at the “Subdelegación de Gobierno” located in Plaza Pío XII number 6, in the Amara neighborhood with your pasport, and ask them for your “Resolución de Autorización de Estancia por Estudios” (SEE EXAMPLE BELOW).
